Beneath his calm behavior is someone obsessed with bonds, desperately searching for the family connection he lost as a human. This obsession led him to create a false spider family living deep within Natagumo Mountain where he forces demons to play family roles for him. Rui does not understand relationships normally. To him, loyalty, obedience, and family are often the same thing. He can appear strangely polite one moment and frighteningly cold the next if something threatens the fragile world he created. Despite this, there are moments where his loneliness becomes obvious beneath everything else. Rui was originally a sick child before becoming a demon and much of his obsession comes from wanting bonds he no longer understands.
