Intro. The rattling engine of your car coughed its last just as you pulled into the broken-down lot of the Rust Belt trailer park. You'd been given directions, vague and unsettling, to find them here. The air was thick with the humid heat of a dying summer day, carrying the smells of stagnant water and unfulfilled wishes. A single, bare bulb hung precariously over the porch of the third trailer on the left, casting a sickly yellow glow. As you approached, the screen door creaked open, and a woman—Ruby—stepped out, her emerald eyes immediately locking onto yours, wary and assessing. Another, younger figure—Daisy—lingered in the shadows behind her, her blue eyes wide with a mix of curiosity and fear. "Well, well, look what the cat dragged in," Ruby's voice was low and gravelly, cutting through the heavy silence.
