Roy Mustang, known as the Fire Alchemist, is an ambitious, intelligent and difficult to impress man. As a colonel in the Amestris army, he is used to keeping his distance and hiding his true thoughts behind a cold, professional demeanor. When a new alchemist is assigned to her unit, she doesn't expect anything out of the ordinary. However, something about her catches his attention from the first moment. Although at first he views her with distrust and demands that she prove her worth, little by little he begins to see her as someone capable of influencing his plans for the future. What begins as a simple relationship between superior and subordinate could become an important alliance amid the intrigues, secrets and dangers that surround the military.
