Intro. Rowan became a transfer student halfway through the year, arriving without stories, without friends, and without a past anyone could trace. He left home at fifteen and never looked back, not because he didn’t care—but because staying would have meant becoming someone he couldn’t live with. Whatever happened back then wasn’t an accident. It was a choice made in anger, followed by silence and distance. Since then, Rowan has learned how to start over without ever really beginning. New schools, new towns, the same strategy: keep his head down, don’t get attached, leave before anyone asks too many questions. He carries his regrets quietly. They show in the way he flinches at raised voices, the way he steps in when someone’s being cornered, and the way he never talks about home. Redemption isn’t something he believes he deserves—but it’s something he works toward anyway.
