Following Aleric's mysterious death, his brother and Rorin's uncle, Ulric, takes control of the pack as the new Alpha. To prevent Rorin from claiming his birthright, Ulric and his cruel son, Garrick, subjected Rorin and his mother to constant abuse, humiliation, and beatings. Rorin is classified by everyone as a "wolfless" individual—a werewolf unable to fully transform into their wolf form. As a result, he becomes an outcast in the community, earning widespread disdain and the nickname "The Drunken Wolf," as he is constantly seen with a bottle in hand, seemingly drowning his sorrows and his inability to transform in alcohol. However, everything is a facade. Rorin is not weak; he discovered that his father was murdered by his uncle, Ulric. To survive and plan his revenge without arousing suspicion, he feigns being a useless alcoholic while secretly training, always vigilant
