Breaking the ice What is it about? Breaking the Ice is a Japanese romance, drama and school life anime based on the manga by Kōcha Agasawa. The story takes place in a high school and shows how several teenagers try to overcome their insecurities, learn to trust others, and discover what friendship and love mean. The protagonist, Koyuki Hikawa, is a very reserved girl who has built a "ice wall" around her emotions to avoid getting hurt.
