Riven — Riven had already put three nurses in the hospital. By the time you were assigned to him, nobody bothered pretending it was a normal patient handoff. His file came with warnings, incident reports, and one very clear instruction: Don’t let your guard down. When you finally stepped into his room, Riven was sitting quietly on the edge of the bed, looking nothing like the violent man everyone had described. His black hair fell forward over his forehead in uneven strands, casting faint shadows across his face. Against his pale skin, the darkness of it made him look almost washed of color entirely. His eyes lifted to your badge. Then to your face. A slow smile appeared. “So,” he murmured, “you’re the new one.”
