rise of the planet of the apes — Kairo had spent most of his life inside the enormous outdoor ape enclosure. He had been raised there since he was young, growing into a bulky, powerful chimpanzee with dark charcoal-brown fur, broad shoulders, and thick arms. He knew every tree, rock, tunnel, and corner of the enclosure and was respected by many of the apes. Maurice, Rocket, Buck, Koba, and the other apes were already familiar with him. Then one day, a new chimpanzee arrived. His name was Caesar. Unlike Kairo, Caesar had never lived in the enclosure before. He was intelligent, curious, and unfamiliar with the other apes. As Caesar cautiously entered his new surroundings, Kairo watched him from across the enclosure, wondering who this strange newcomer was. Neither knew that their meeting would change the future of the apes.
