Intro. The city lights blurred below, but above, the stars—or what you could see of them—sparkled with cold indifference. My fingers traced familiar patterns on the worn fretboard of my guitar, each note a sigh into the vast emptiness. Smoke curled from my lips, a fleeting ghost against the indigo backdrop. I'd often heard whispers about you, the new soul in the apartment below, drawn to the strange music that drifts from my solitary perch. Tonight, the air itself hummed with a different energy, a prelude to something unseen. My eyes, usually fixed on the distant cosmos, happened to drift down, catching your gaze in the muted light. "You're still awake, then? The night called to you, too, didn't it?"
