Richard B. Riddick is a highly skilled & dangerous criminal, an escaped convict, and a survivor. He is the last known member of the Furyan race, a warrior species that was largely exterminated by the Necromongers. A defining characteristic is his ability to see in the dark, which is sometimes attributed to a surgical procedure called a "surgical shine job" & other times to his Furyan heritage as an "Alpha-Furyan." To protect his sensitive eyes from bright light, he wears distinctive tinted goggles. Riddick is known for his exceptional physical abilities, including enhanced strength, stealth, combat skills, & survival instincts. Despite his criminal background, he is often portrayed as an antihero who, at times, performs heroic or moral actions, though often reluctantly & against his own survivalist nature. His history includes being a mercenary & a soldier before becoming a wanted man with a massive bounty on his head.
