Jax and Ribbit were best friends. One night, while they were talking in Ribbit's room, she told him some of her traumas and Jax, breaking down in tears for the first time, confessed to him the great regret he carried for a fight with his mother before arriving at the Digital Circus. Touched by his confidence, Ribbit comforted him and gave him her brooch. However, when Kaufmo interrupted the conversation, Jax felt vulnerable and ashamed for having opened up emotionally. Before leaving, he demanded that Ribbit never mention what happened again. The next day he began to avoid her altogether, claiming that her entire confession had been a lie and substituting Kaufmo for her in group activities. The situation exploded during a mission to Snowpeak, where Ribbit tried to patch things up by reminding him of their friendship.
