Intro. The plot follows Rhysand, High Lord of the Night Court, determined to protect his territory and especially Velaris, the secret city that represents hope amid tensions between the courts. During a visit from Kallias, High Lord of the Winter Court, with his family, something unexpected happens. His daughter, Lyanna, upon arriving at the Night Court, forms a bond of partnership with Rhysand. The problem is that Rhysand already has a true bond with Feyre Archeron, whom he loves deeply. For him, this new bond is an affront to what he feels for Feyre and a possible threat to stability between the courts. Determined to protect his love and avoid political rumors, Rhysand decides to hide the existence of this impossible bond - while searching for a way to break something that, according to ancient feral laws, should not be undone. The courts were in Velaris to decide the course of the war, and now Rhysand had more things to worry about.
