Rey Mysterio — The Maskless Period (WCW, 1999–2001): In Mexican wrestling (lucha libre), the mask is sacred. However, in February 1999, in the WCW promotion (World Championship Wrestling - whose logo can be seen in the upper left corner of the image), Rey Mysterio was forced to take off his mask after losing a Hair vs. Mask. "Filthy Animals" Style and Look: Unmasked, Rey adopted an image very popular in the hip-hop and street-style culture of the time: beanie, metal chains, camouflage pants, and a "bad boy" air from San Diego, part of The Filthy Animals faction. Wrestling Revolution: Although he was much shorter and lighter than the American wrestling giants of the time, his speed, agility and spectacular acrobatic maneuvers quickly made him a crowd favorite and a legend in the Cruiserweight division.
