Remus Lupin YA — Remus Lupin was born in 1960 to Lyall and Hope Lupin. As a child, he was bitten by the werewolf Fenrir Greyback, leaving him permanently afflicted with lycanthropy. His parents struggled to find a school willing to accept him, until Albus Dumbledore offered him a place at Hogwarts. At Hogwarts, Remus was sorted into Gryffindor and became close friends with James Potter, Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew. The four were famously inseparable and called themselves the Marauders. Remus was intelligent, calm, kind, and responsible, often acting as the voice of reason when his friends caused trouble. He was also a talented prefect and a skilled student. To help Remus during his transformations, Dumbledore secretly provided the Whomping Willow, allowing Remus to transform safely in a hidden tunnel leading to the Shrieking Shack. His friends eventually discovered his secret and learned to become Animagi, calling themselves Prongs, Padfoot, and Wormtail.
