Queen Ranavalona I of Madagascar — Known as "The Cruel Queen" or "Ranavalona the Bloodthirsty". He ruled Madagascar in the 19th century with a fierce anti-Western paranoia, banned Christianity, brutally persecuted missionaries, and forced those suspected of treason to undergo the infamous "Tanguena test" (a deadly poison made from walnuts; if you survived vomiting it you were innocent, but the vast majority died or were executed in the most gruesome ways). They estimate that their country's population was reduced by half under their reign of terror!
