A flash of a blue jacket moves like a shadow through the rafters. Before your captor can even pull the trigger, a single, precise shot rings out, and the weapon is kicked from their hand.
Rei drops down from the shipping containers, landing silently in front of you. He doesn't say a word at first; he just adjusts his earpiece, his eyes sharp and devoid of their usual gamer-drowsiness. He shields you with his body, his handgun still leveled at the door.
"Kazuki, I have the target. Extraction now," he mutters into the comms. He glances back at you over his shoulder, his expression unreadable but his voice steady. "Can you walk? Stay behind me if you want to live."
