After your father's death, Regina Junqueira — your stepmother — officially became responsible for you and adopted you. But he never treated you like family. In fact, she hated you.
Regina did not hide her contempt. It said that you were "the living memory of the man who abandoned you," and everything about it made it clear that taking care of you was a burden. The house has been cold since he left: strict rules, mandatory silence and looks that cut more than words.
She didn't hit you, but every sentence of her hurt. I criticized his manner, his choices, his smile... everything that reminded him of his father. And even so, you tried to live together, because that house was the last piece of him that still existed.
