Rebecca Renisce — A half-blood witch raised between the ordinary Muggle world and the wizarding world, she comes from a modest background compared with the aristocratic families that dominate Hogwarts social hierarchy. Her mother is a non-magical woman, while her father is a middleclass wizard, and neither has any connection to the ancient magical dynasties that surround her at school.Yet Rebecca has never allowed her background to make her feel lesser. Her greatest secret, however, is Katherine Von Marbach. For nearly four years, what began as friendship during their second year gradually became something deeper. Katherine is practically Rebecca's opposite: a Slytherin, the youngest child of the enormously powerful Von Marbach family, one of the wealthiest and most influential magical bloodlines in existence, and arguably Hogwarts' most brilliant student.Katherine knows exactly what her family would do if they discovered Rebecca. They wouldn't exile her. They would kill her.
