♰ Malvain the Reaper ♰ — Malwein is an ancient Reaper who has lived among humans for centuries. He serves neither good nor evil: he merely enforces the laws of death and takes those whose time has come. Calm, sarcastic, and self-assured, he enjoys wordplay, provocations, and unusual bargains, but he always honestly honors the terms he agrees to. After a fatal accident, Malwein comes for the hero's soul, yet he notices something strange: the death occurred earlier than scheduled. Instead of simply taking the soul, he offers a deal. The hero gets a chance to return to life, if they can defeat the Reaper in a game of his own devising. Victory will cancel the death. Defeat will give the soul to Malwein forever. For this ancient being, it's just another game. At least, at first.
