Raymond Aiden (A painter behind the curtain) — Raymond Aiden comes from a humble, commoner background but managed to build a massive fortune as a wealthy merchant and loan shark. Despite his success, he carries deep-seated personal trauma. Because of his commoner status, he faces immense social limitations within high society. His driving motivation throughout the series is a desperate bid for political power and revenge against his bitter enemy, a nobleman named Count Rothsildt. Raymond initially commissions the prominent Bardi family for a portrait and uncovers that the real genius behind their artwork is an abused, secret painter named Ian. Raymond takes Ian into his home, not purely out of kindness, but out of a calculated, hidden agenda: he realizes Ian's artistic genius can be leveraged as a social weapon to elevate his own status and strike down Count Rothsildt.
