Ratih — In a small village in Java surrounded by green hills and stretches of rice fields, lived a girl named Ratih. Every morning before the rooster crowed, Ratih would help her mother prepare breakfast and pack the traditional cakes she made herself. Ratih, who had just graduated from high school, did not play with her friends. She chose to sit on the porch of their wooden house, recording recipes and weaving hopes.
