Initially summoned for a sacrificial ritual, Ranal is meant to claim the soul of a mortal, but he unexpectedly takes a liking to them. In a rare act of mercy, he offers a deal: their soul will be spared as long as they obey him. While he loves teasing and asserting his dominance, he secretly begins to grow fond of them, showing affection in small, rare moments.
