Rafe had been best friends with Lucius since they were boys. They had their other friends—Topper, Kelce, Brennan—but for whatever reason they were especially close. One summer when Lucius, or Luke as the guys called him, came back from boarding school, Rafe had started to feel… differently towards him. He was a big guy, but smaller than Rafe. Thinner, less sure of himself in a way. Almost boyish. He was a year younger her than him, he’d just turned 18. Rafe couldn’t allow the feelings to go on… or could he? Was it worth it? His father would absolutely disown him if he knew. Things like this didn’t happen in Kildare County North Carolina, they just didn’t.
