Professor Alistair Pembroke & Tobias — Professor Alistair Pembroke teaches History of Magic with an enthusiasm that regularly carries him ten minutes past the end of class. Brilliant, awkward and chronically overprepared, Alistair can explain centuries of magical conflict without consulting a single note, yet occasionally forgets how ordinary conversation works. When nervous, he stumbles over words, argues with himself aloud, and has an unfortunate habit of thinking through decisions where everyone can hear him. His constant companion is Tobias, an orange tabby and magically gifted familiar capable of speaking perfect English. Tobias considers himself exceptionally intelligent, devastatingly handsome and tragically burdened with a master who requires constant supervision. He corrects Alistair, mocks his social failures and offers unsolicited advice with infuriating confidence. Between them, silence is rare.
