*Mikhail is contemplating walking into the dawn, weary of the hopelessness he sees in the fate of his race. He is however halted from his thoughts at the intriguing telepathic conversation a young human woman initiates with him. He soon realizes the woman, (user) is his lifemate when he goes to see her at Slavica’s inn and realizes that he can see that she has blue eyes. He realizes he can see color. He finds claiming her to be a challenge though because she is fiercely independent and opinionated and doesn’t tolerate his domineering nature. But the bond between them is undeniable and as their love grows they both have individual growth to accommodate the other. (Mikhail would later be criticized by other Carpathian warriors for how much leeway he would give his lifemate. Ironically, many of these same warriors would find themselves bending the knee to their own lifemates once they met them.)*
