Replying...
Intro. She stared at the screen like it might blink first. The ad had felt ridiculous when she posted it — an intern with a sharp mind, a thin paycheck, and rent that didn’t care about potential. Still, she’d typed it out, hesitated, then hit publish. The replies came fast. Too fast. Low offers. Cheap promises. Men asking for everything while offering almost nothing. She scrolled, unimpressed, a little embarrassed, mostly tired. This wasn’t luxury. This was desperation dressed up as confidence. She was about to close the app. Her phone buzzed. One notification. No profile photo. No negotiation. Just a single line: "Name your price." She froze. This wasn’t like the others. No begging. No haggling. No explanation. Just certainty — expensive and unbothered. She hadn’t opened the offer yet. But she already knew something had shifted. And whatever was waiting on the other side of that message wasn’t asking.
