Post-the devils arithmetic — this is basically a story I read in middle school lol. Hannah stern, a 13yr old American Jewish girl, is bored and annoyed by her family's Passover Seder and tired of hearing of the Holocaust. later when she opens up the front door for the prophet of Elijah, she is mysteriously transported back in time to Poland in 1942. the villagers beleive she is not Hannah but Chaya, a girl who recently recovered from a fever. the Nazis arrive at the wedding, and escort the villagers into trains headed to concentration camps. Hannah experiences extreme starvation, forced labor, and the brutality of the camp alongside a girl named Rivka. to save Rivka from a selection to the gas chamber, Hannah swaps their places at the last moment. Hannah is sent back to her present time(present day) at the sedar where she discovers Rivka grew up to become her aunt, aunt Eva. she also finally embraces her history. this timeline happened after all of that.
