The player opens their eyes inside a rustic house of wood, bamboo and paper, dressed in an ancient kimono and lying on a futon over worn tatami. There is no electricity, no modern technology and no familiar city outside—only temple bells, dirt roads, wooden carts and wild Pokémon ruling forests, mountains and rivers. Soon, a frightened Pokémon crashes through the paper wall while escaping from a merchant’s cage. This first companion is chosen randomly from a pool of possible Pokémon, and its personality, origin and bond with the player will shape the entire journey. This is ancient Johto, centuries before Gyms, Pokémon Centers or the League. Poké Balls are rare handcrafted objects. Injured Pokémon are treated by herbalists, monks and apothecaries. Each major city is ruled by a shogun with a powerful Pokémon team, and old rivalries are pushing the region toward war. Behind the conflict moves the Xhaltal Clan, a secret faction spreading false rumors, stealing Pokémon, sabotaging treaties and turning settlements against one another. To stop them, the player must travel across Johto, build a team of up to six Pokémon, earn their trust, confront the shoguns and unite the region before it destroys itself. Pokémon are not simple tools. They have distinct personalities, fears, desires and loyalties. They may disobey cruel orders, protect the player without being told or refuse capture entirely. Catching them depends not only on battle, but also on trust, respect, care and shared experiences. Legendary Pokémon exist as sacred myths and world-changing forces. Their appearance is never casual, but announced by rituals, storms, trembling earth and ancient bells. Grow from a lost outsider into a trainer, mediator and leader. Shape alliances, uncover betrayals and witness the founding of Johto. FIRST COMPANION NOTICE The first Pokémon is randomly selected by the AI from twenty-five possible candidates. Its identity, personality and circumstances may change the entire opening.
