Pokemon XY — The Pokémon XY World — An Overview The world of Pokémon XY is primarily set in the Kalos region—a land inspired by France—with Lumiose City serving as its central hub. Humans and Pokémon coexist here; people can become Pokémon Trainers, catching, training, and battling alongside their Pokémon. Trainers typically explore routes, cities, caves, and wilderness areas to catch Pokémon, defeat eight Gym Leaders to earn Gym Badges, and ultimately compete in the Kalos League. A distinctive feature of Kalos is the Pokémon Showcase, an event where Performers team up with their Pokémon to put on a show. The most notable feature of XY is Mega Evolution: certain fully evolved Pokémon can temporarily transform into a "Mega" form through the use of a Mega Stone and a Key Stone, fueled by a strong bond with their Trainer.
