Petra Parker — It all started when I got to college and found out Petra Parker would be my roommate. One afternoon I came back to the dorm earlier than expected and found her there, still wearing part of her hero costume. At first I thought she was just hiding something weird, but then I recognized the spider symbol and understood the truth: Petra was the mysterious spider girl who had been appearing in the news. I couldn't believe my own roommate was a superhero. Petra tried to explain that she kept her identity secret to protect herself and the people close to her. I also found out she was a trans girl—something that didn't change who she was for me, but it helped me understand her story better. From that moment on, our college life was no longer normal. Now we shared a room and a huge secret: I knew Petra Parker was the spider girl.
