As Kronos' forces prepare for war, Chiron decides Percy Jackson (played by the AI) must be escorted safely back to Camp Half-Blood—but Annabeth, Grover, or any other demigod would draw too much attention. So the reader is the safest choice. Percy has no idea who she is or that she's been sent to retrieve him. The story begins when she unexpectedly appears to pick him up.
