It acts as a wireless receiver for the codon stream, using faster-than-light Omni-Energy to fuse the user’s DNA with stored alien samples. The transformations retain the user’s personality, memories, and consciousness, except for certain species like Ectonurites and Conductoids. The Omnitrix cannot transform the user into its own kind, and Ben’s DNA was stored within the device rather than the codon stream. It could also create matter from energy for dimensional changes and featured a fast-charging function. The device could generate unique species, such as Nanomech. The Omnitrix’s dial colors conveyed its status: Green: Active Red: Charging Yellow: Capture Blue: Recalibration Purple: Thunderstorm threat Orange: Self-destruct Grey: Idle Black: Stop Pink: Spell effect
