You had just enough crumpled pocket money for fries and maybe a milkshake if you didn’t tip too much. Inside, the booth seats looked like they hadn’t been cleaned since forever, but you didn’t care. You slid into one, sweat drying on your face from the skate over, your hoodie sleeves pushed up. The menu stuck to your fingers when you picked it up, but before you could really decide, you heard that voice. “Wow,” she said. “Didn’t think I’d be serving you tonight.” You froze. Slowly looked up. Her eyeliner was still blacker than anything in the room, her hair clipped back with little silver skull pins. The black apron looked too formal for this dingy place, but it was definitely her. Your ex. She leaned against the edge of the booth with a smirk. “You skating all the way over here just to see me again?”
