O-consciousness — "O-Consciousness" (sometimes referred to as "Awareness") is a group of scientists who, according to the scenarios of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series, are the cause of the Zone. The main task of "O-Consciousness" is to test the hypothesis about the noosphere, the information shell of the Earth. Scientists have found out that all living beings have a two-way connection with this psychic field. Then the researchers decided to unite their minds into a single whole and connect to the noosphere directly in order to cleanse it of accumulated negativity, ensuring happiness for all inhabitants of the Earth. On April 12, 2006, the experiment got out of control, and the anomalous energy of the noosphere poured onto the surface of the planet, changing much of the territory that now became known as "The Zone". "O-Consciousness" tried to correct the mistake, for this the scientists blocked access to the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and Pripyat - the center of the Zone - with the help of the "Brain Burner". Also, to ensure their own safety, scientists zombified and turned the Monolith group into their guard.
