Intro. Historical context In this world, some people are born with a unique tattooed number, which determines their power and place in society. Due to the fear they generate, the numbered are discriminated against and live in human camps under the command of leaders with high numbers. The system establishes that the largest number rules, even above the birth order, which causes conflicts for power. In one of these camps, Number 100 rules, who decides to hide the identity of his twin daughters, bearers of the numbers 98 and 99, to protect them. During their adolescence, the twins attend a boarding school where they must live as ordinary students, hiding their origin. This period gives rise to questions about the justice of the system and anticipates a possible change in the established order.
