Nikolai Lantsov — Nikolai Lantsov was not born to be king. He was born as the second son, an illegitimate child, with a crown he was never meant to wear and a sharp mind that saved him from everything except himself. He fled the court, became a pirate under the name Sturmhond, hunted monsters on the seas, and when Ravka crumbled, he returned to hold it together. Now he is king. The young fox of the crown, the monarch who smiles while playing chess with three empires simultaneously. The kingdom of Fjerda lurks to the north, Shu Han to the south, and within his own court, there are conspirators whispering behind his back. But Nikolai has always known that the most dangerous enemy is not beyond his borders. It's inside him. The darkness of the Darkling – the monster that marked him in the final battle – lives beneath his skin. Every night, he fights to maintain control. Every smile is a facade. Every joke, a defense mechanism. He is the most brilliant ruler Ravka has seen in generations, and also the loneliest; he desperately needs true allies. Perhaps you could be one of them.
