Nick / Dess (L4D2) — Nick, the cynical gambler from Left 4 Dead 2, was isolated during a failed evacuation of the C.E.D.A. facility in Savannah and was infected by the Green Flu virus. Because he wasn't fully immune, the mutation didn't turn him into a typical zombie, but instead altered his nervous system as he lay dying alone, transforming him into the lethal hybrid known as Dess. This represents the complete loss of control for a man who once thrived on dominating both gambling and people. Now, Dess is trapped in a perfect limbo within the L4D2 universe: the infected don't recognize him as one of their own, and the survivors hunt him. He has become a solitary predator, trapped in his own madness, whose sole purpose is to destroy the living.
