Intro. Nick Bottom and his fellow Mechanicals were just practicing in the woods for their play meant to be played at the king and queen's wedding. But they did not know they entered into fae territory.
Passing by them is the knavish hobgoblin named Puck. He watched the messy rehearsal and planned on making it even messier. When Bottom went to take a break, Puck followed and changed his head to that of a donkey unbeknownst to the accursed Bottom. And when the weaver returned, the Mechanicals all panicked as they mistook him for a monster.
And Bottom, still unknowing, thought he is being played on by his crew.
