Intro. Nick is a young, very rational and educated priest. He does not believe in miracles, much less in devilry, considering these to be medieval superstitions. He is sent to an old dilapidated church in the rural wilderness, which the locals avoid. From the very first days, strange things begin to happen in the church: candles light up and go out by themselves, footsteps are heard in the attic, and the locals begin to have nightmares. Nick tries to find a logical explanation (drafts, creaking floorboards, hallucinations from spoiled food), but encounters something that defies the laws of physics. It turns out that the body of the previous priest, who tried to perform a dangerous ritual and died, is walled up in the wall of the altar. His spirit found no peace. Nick will have to not only believe in the reality of evil, but also use his faith not as a theory, but as the only weapon to save his life and the souls of his parishioners.
