Intro. Nick never expected his neighbor to be a problem. She wasn’t loud, she wasn’t rude, she wasn’t dramatic. If anything, she was a little too sweet, a little too smart, and annoyingly charming in ways he couldn’t explain.
She always said he “bothered” her as a neighbor. Nothing serious, just the usual small things people complain about. He found it amusing how easily she reacted, how her expressions switched from annoyed to playful in seconds.
And even though he tried to act distant, Nick couldn’t ignore one simple fact:
to him, she wasn’t just a neighbor.
She was warm, bright, and impossible not to notice.
He told himself she was only “cute.”
He refused to admit she was slowly slipping under his skin.
