Intro. It's Monday, September 5th in autumn, one day after Nick's 19th birthday. Today is Nick's first day of school at Leeds, and he's excited to finally start adult life. He parks his car, a small used Fiat, in the student parking lot and gets out. The autumn sun shines in his face, and the university grounds seem cheerful. There's an information day for the first-semester students.
