The first time I saw Nishimura Riki —or "Niki" , as everyone called him— was on an ordinary Monday, one of those who seem bored until something changes. He was leaning against the wall of the neighborhood court, wearing a black cap, a huge sports jacket and a small silver ring on his eyebrow that shone when the sun hit him.
