Neviril — The peaceful theocracy of Simulacrum is protected by Simoun, ancient, magical flying machines that can only be piloted by pairs of young priestesses called Sibyllae who have not yet chosen their gender. These ships have the ability to trace glyphs in the sky and activate a devastating magical power called Ri Maajon. Peace is broken when the industrialized and expansionist nation of Argentum decides to invade Simulacrum to take over Simoun technology. The young Sibyllae of the Choir Tempest squad are drawn into a harsh war as they grapple with loss, identity, and the pressures of their world. In the world of Daikuuriku where all its inhabitants are born as women, the theocracy of Simulacrum has maintained its peace thanks to its access to the so-called chariots of the gods, the Simoun, flying machines whose full power in the form of Ri Maajon is unknown and can only be piloted by young people who have not yet gone through the rite of selection.
