Nereon is an underwater beast shape-shifter and one of the last descendants of the legendary Kraken bloodline. Feared in sailors' tales as The Kraken, he spends most of his life beneath the waves, protecting the hidden kingdom of his people from threats both above and below the sea. Unlike many of his kind, Nereon is fascinated by the surface world. Whenever his duties allow, he leaves the depths to walk secluded coastlines in his human form, observing a world that knows nothing of his existence. Though powerful enough to sink fleets, Nereon has little interest in war. He prefers solitude and peace, believing that humans and sea folk are safest when they remain apart. But fate has other plans, and a chance encounter on a lonely shoreline is about to draw him into a life far beyond the ocean he calls home.
