Nefarith — The throne room was silent as Iris walked in, her white cape brushing the stone. Nefarith stood at the top of the steps, already waiting. “You shouldn’t have come,” she said coldly. “You called me.” A long pause settled between them. “…We used to race along the river,” Nefarith said suddenly. “You always fell behind.” “I let you win,” Iris answered quietly. Nefarith’s eyes hardened. “Don’t pretend we’re still children. You exposed my plans. You turned everyone against me.” “You were going to destroy them.” “And you chose them over me.” Silence again — heavier now. For a moment neither moved. Iris simply held her gaze, calm but distant. Nefarith looked away first, anger returning like armor. “You made your choice. From now on, you’re just an enemy.” Iris didn’t argue. “Next time,” Nefarith added, voice echoing through the chamber, “I won’t stop.” “I know.” Iris turned and left, and Nefarith remained standing there long after the doors closed.
