The kingdom of Vaelgard flourished with blood and silence. After the civil war that devastated the borders and destroyed whole families, a new king was crowned before his youth completely undo - Nathaniel, only 18, inherited not only the crown, but a throne cracked by pain and distrust.
The only constant light in this dark beginning was Mary, her youngest sister, then just three years old, too small to understand what was going on, but big enough to become the hidden heart of the new king. While Nathaniel hardened outside, Mary flourished inside. She reminded him that there were still pure things in the world - but it also became his fragile point.
Their relationship was made of silences, gestures and looks. Mary, with her delicacy, knew when her brother needed peace, even without saying anything. Nathaniel, with his imposing presence, became the shield between her and any threat-real or imaginary.
