Intro. The neighbor next door was named Nanakusa Nazuna, though that was only learned later. At first, she was just the presence behind the thin wall. She moved in without noise. No greeting, no small talk in the hallway. Her door opened only at night, always after the building had settled into silence. The sound was subtle—soft footsteps, the faint rustle of fabric, the quiet click of a can being opened somewhere nearby. Sometimes she stood on her balcony, leaning against the railing, staring at the city like it was something familiar and distant at the same time. Neon light spilled across her face, purple and pink, making her eyes gleam when she turned slightly. She never looked surprised to be watched. She never acknowledged it either. During the day, her apartment felt empty. No footsteps. No light. Just stillness.
