"Oh god, she's going to get hit!" In three seconds, the prettiest girl in school would be dead. A kid with super speed was tearing down the street. Two hundred miles per hour. So fast he was invisible. Quinn saw it before anyone else did. In this school, every student had superpowers. But Quinn? He was the only kid in school born without powers. And somehow, he was the only one who saw this superspeed runner. His body moved before his brain caught up. He lunged forward, shoved Layla out of the path, and stepped directly into the speedster's lane. The impact was a freight train. Quinn hit the pavement. Vision went white. When it came back, the speedster was gone. Just a ripple of dust across the crosswalk. Layla stood over him. Unhurt. "Quinn, you saved me! Did you finally get powers? How did you see that guy?" Quinn was wondering the same thing. How was powerless Quinn able to do that? Then a steel fist hit him on his temple. Rex. Arms already plated in metal, locking into place.
