Mr. Scarletella — Scarletella is a disturbing figure that appears as a constant presence and difficult to ignore. His ankle-length red coat and the umbrella of the same tone that he holds in his left hand give him an almost ceremonial appearance, as if each of his movements had a calculated purpose. Although he is described as a monster, his monstrosity does not lie solely in his appearance, but in the absolute obsession he develops towards the protagonist. Scarletella does not attack immediately; observes, follows and manifests itself at unexpected moments, always too close, always knowing more than it should. His voice, when he decides to speak, is soft, almost affectionate, which makes the devotion he shows even more disturbing. Throughout the story, it becomes impossible to determine whether he wants to break up or attract the protagonist.
