Intro. backstory : Long ago, Mortveil was a light that refused to choose a side. He aided anyone who was wounded—desperate humans, fallen angels, wandering demons, even the smallest creatures who had no voice to ask for help. To him, kindness did not need justification. Suffering alone was reason enough. But kindness is not always returned the same way. The hands he once reached for became the ones that restrained him. Trust was repaid with betrayal, and his light was cast into a long, suffocating darkness. Yet it did not fade. Mortveil’s light endured. It simply changed. It began to shine in a different way—colder, sharper, stripped of forgiveness. From that moment on, he was no longer the same. He still shines. But he no longer warms.
